checking in with your question you just asked me, I figured here is a better place. yes, i did. I don’t know what but they’ve been super salty lately and I figured dismissing it was the best bet for removing potential escalation. The better thing for me to do would have been to do nothing...but im tired and cranky tonight so i didn’t. Also, I unshared your comment, this kind of sharing does no one any good. anyone is welcome to dismiss a comment for any reason but sharing things that are intended to drive additional attention to a personal beef between commentors is specifically called out in the rules. Not sure why they are acting like this recently but I can say that I wont allow for shit stirring on oppo regardless of personal feelings.

Yeah, nothing would have been a better bet. Just checking because Party-vi banned a dude for dismissing comments that disagreed with him, and I thought it would be pretty hypocritical for a mod to do that to someone. I get where you’re coming from, but really, dismissing should probably only be saved for really bad shit, not disagreements, and definitely not as a pre-emptive strike.

dismissing comments is fine, welcome even and it was my judgement that it was the best option for reducing drama. The key is to not arbitrarily silence someone without cause. What I did, I didn’t do as a mod, just as someone who was tired of getting attitude for no reason.

Yeah, I get that. But once again, I think it would have been better to ignore than dismiss. If you ignore it, then the conversation is over. If you dismiss, that’s potential fuel for a fire. And unfortunately, I don’t think (in the eyes of users) you get a distinction between acting as a mod and acting as user who is tired of being pestered.

Probably true. Got to sleep at 4 am this morning after battling with a wind storm most of the night, then had a long day and was in no mood for undeserved attitude.
